ANU has one of Australia’s most comprehensive international student support ecosystems. With approximately 8,500 international students from 130+ countries, the university invests significantly in dedicated international student services.

ANU International Office
The primary point of contact for international students:
- Pre-departure guidance (visa, accommodation, enrolment)
- Orientation programs (ANU Welcome, International Student Briefing)
- Ongoing advice on visa compliance, OSHC, and academic requirements
- Crisis support and emergency assistance
- Location: Ground floor, Di Riddell Student Centre
Academic Skills
- Academic Skills and Learning Centre (ASLC): Free one-to-one consultations, workshops, and online resources on academic writing, referencing, time management, and exam preparation
- English language support: ANU College of English language programs and free English conversation groups during semester
Health and Wellbeing
ANU Counselling: Free, confidential counselling (up to 6 sessions per semester). Available in person and via telehealth. Crisis appointments available same-day.
ANU Medical Centre: Bulk-billed GP services on campus. International students with OSHC can access with minimal out-of-pocket costs.
ANU Wellbeing: Workshops on stress management, mindfulness, sleep, and healthy relationships.
Career Support
ANU Careers: Career counselling, resume reviews, mock interviews, job board (ANU CareerHub). Dedicated international student career advisor.
ANU+, ANU Global Programs: Volunteer registration, internships, and global study opportunities that count toward the Australian National Internships Program and the ANU Global Certificate.
International Student Wellbeing Team
A dedicated team within the International Office focusing on:
- Homesickness and cultural adjustment
- Academic transition support
- Financial hardship (emergency grants)
- Family and dependant support
