Programs

Bachelor of Laws (Honours) — 4 years. Direct-entry undergraduate law degree. Entry: ATAR 97+. Unique feature: embedded Honours (research thesis in final year). ANU’s LLB is a stand-alone degree, not a double-degree programme.

Flexible Double Law — LLB(Hons) combined with any ANU degree (Arts, Science, Commerce, IR, etc.). Duration: 5 years. Over 25 available combinations.

Juris Doctor (JD) — 3 years. Graduate-entry law degree for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.

Master of Laws (LLM) — 1 year. Specialisations: International Law, Public Law, Law Reform and Social Justice, and Commercial Law.

Graduate Outcomes

Law graduates from ANU have the highest public sector placement rate of any Australian law school. Approximately 40% enter government legal roles: Attorney-General’s Department, Office of Parliamentary Counsel, DPP, DFAT legal branch, or legal roles in the Australian Public Service. Private sector: top-tier commercial firms (Allens, King & Wood Mallesons, Ashurst) also recruit actively from ANU.
